Engaged and Successful Students

Do you want to improve student retention, engagement and learning outcomes for your students?

We empower disadvantaged and at-risk students to succeed in their studies and create positive impact within their communities by developing the mindset, behaviour, strategies and confidence to succeed.

… so that they understand HOW and WHAT to learn, feeling CONFIDENT and MOTIVATED, ENGAGED and RESILIENT  – and can SUCCEED in their studies and beyond.

 How does it work?

We use a Self-Regulated Learning* framework to:

  • build self awareness as a learner;
  • guide the development of personal (individual) strategies, mindset and confidence; and
  • encourage resilient learner behaviour.

* Based on Barry J. Zimmerman’s framework.

Each Student’s experience will be different, because every student is different.

Our Learn2Learn programs bridge the student support gap by empowering students and developing pro-active learning behaviours – in short, they addresses the non-academic “personal” element that impacts on student retention and success.

Learn2Learn

The online, self-paced program is ideally run over 6 weeks in conjunction with peer led conversations and aligned with your peer support programs.

It can be run as part of a preparation for University program, between terms for remedial support, or integrated into curriculum.

Learn2Learn-Lite

This new program is designed with smaller bite-sized content, to be available across the term. It also fits well with peer or coach led conversations.

Learn2Learn Mentor-Coach additional content

To ensure our programs are well supported we offer additional training modules to help inform weekly Learn2Learn conversations. These are available free of charge for our Monthly, Pilot and Fixed partner clients.

What sets a student up for success?

Transcript: What sets your students up for success?

“When I started my first Uni degree I didn’t know what to do, how to start OR how to learn.

I was scared and just hoped and tried and focused on surviving.

I hoped no one would notice I was lost and out of my depth.

I wasn’t good enough and felt totally out of control.”

We have a gap between what we (as Universities) do, and what students of today need.

You might call it “personal circumstances” but in many cases it is directly related to mindset, strategies and the motivation to succeed.

We would like to invite you to partner with us to set your students up for success.

Much like me when I first started, they don’t know what it is they are missing, and it is hurting them.

With our approach, students who struggle to learn; to balance their lives; and those who struggle to believe in themselves can turn that around.

You can address the elements that effect “personal circumstances” and empower your students to understand what they are learning, control their study habits and build their self-belief.

You should believe that with the right tools, students can become more motivated, more engaged and improve their own learning outcomes.

We must empower students to take action to change their own lives; enable them to learn deeper, in less time; recognise why they’ve struggled in the past and what to change; and stay through to their graduation.

Together we can retain more students by helping them recognise they ARE good enough, and give them back their confidence and sense of control.

Staggered content

Designed to start a minimum of 2 weeks prior to Term, content is released in stages to encourage spaced reflection and practice.

Timing of module release can be adjusted to suit your first year schedule.

action oriented

Each Module consists of several topics, with activities to prepare for their studies, to build their awareness of themselves, and to understand how to develop themselves as effective and proactive learners.

Practice & Reflect

Each topic encourages reflection on their own personal practice, as well as reflecting on the learning strategies used within the Learn2Learn program.

shared journey

We offer an additional small group coaching or a peer-support framework and training should you decide to incorporate a peer-support component to your roll-out of the program.

“I needed to <make some significant changes in my life>…I would not have found the courage to do this without the help of the Learn2Learn programme…in learning about boundaries and strategies and goal setting. Writing why I wanted to study, goals, motivation really did fire up my courage to reach our for help to change things so I could study effectively and realise my dreams for a great life”

Student 1 (research project)

“I have severe ADHD…all the dysfunction that comes with ADHD is creating chaos, though information I did access from the program did help.”

Student 9 (research project)

After completing my first semester and being awarded a supplementary exam for one of my units, I heavily, and negatively reflected on how i got this, naively thinking I was just going to cruise through university. this broke me. I cried for days, wondering why this have happened….I look <at> Learn2Learn as a big opportunity to redeem not just my study regime but my mental health. Learn2Learn makes my brain stop and reflect.

Student 7 (research project)

Thoroughly enjoyed the content. Lots of fantastic information. I particularly enjoyed the module on resilience.

The online platform is easy to navigate. I wish Moodle units were this easy.

I wish I had this in my first year.

James W (Learn2Learn Mentor)

“I just wanted to say it also gave me confidence… term one I failed Chemistry…I really beat myself up over it…I think it just gave me the confidence to go, you’ve got the option to drop a subject…and focus on Chemistry.  And I did. Believe or not, I exceeded by 20% on my supplementary exam. Without going through this program, I probably wouldn’t have done that.”

Student 7 (research project)

“The program really helped me go, okay I do need to get a schedule, and I do need to do things, sit down and do them properly, and learning how to do that was amazing…. I found that I retained stuff. Going into this term previously… [I’d be] ‘what did I do last semester?’ Now I’ve come to Term 3 and I can still apply the knowledge I’ve learned from Term 2 because I actually went through and did it properly.”

Student 3 (research project)

I found the Learn2Learn program truly empowering and inspiring. I really resonated with Tanya’s engaging style and now feel that I am able to take charge of my own learning and truly succeed. As a qualified trainer I’d highly recommend this course to anyone ready to take charge of their learning and succeed, and it’s not often I’m able to say this about a course!
