What sets a student up for success?

Transcript: What sets your students up for success?

“When I started my first Uni degree I didn’t know what to do, how to start OR how to learn.

I was scared and just hoped and tried and focused on surviving.

I hoped no one would notice I was lost and out of my depth.

I wasn’t good enough and felt totally out of control.”

We have a gap between what we (as Universities) do, and what students of today need.

You might call it “personal circumstances” but in many cases it is directly related to mindset, strategies and the motivation to succeed.

We would like to invite you to partner with us to set your students up for success.

Much like me when I first started, they don’t know what it is they are missing, and it is hurting them.

With our approach, students who struggle to learn; to balance their lives; and those who struggle to believe in themselves can turn that around.

You can address the elements that effect “personal circumstances” and empower your students to understand what they are learning, control their study habits and build their self-belief.

You should believe that with the right tools, students can become more motivated, more engaged and improve their own learning outcomes.

We must empower students to take action to change their own lives; enable them to learn deeper, in less time; recognise why they’ve struggled in the past and what to change; and stay through to their graduation.

Together we can retain more students by helping them recognise they ARE good enough, and give them back their confidence and sense of control.

How does it work?

We use a Self-Regulated Learning* framework to build self awareness and to guide the development of personal (individual) strategies, mindset and resilient learner behaviour.

* Based on Barry J. Zimmerman’s frameworks.

Each Student’s experience will be different.

Staggered content

Designed to start a minimum of 2 weeks prior to Term, content is released in stages to encourage spaced reflection and practice.

Timing of module release can be adjusted to suit your first year schedule.

action oriented

Each Module consists of several topics, with activities to prepare for their studies, to build their awareness of themselves, and to understand how to develop themselves as effective and proactive learners.

Practice & Reflect

Each topic encourages reflection on their own personal practice, as well as reflecting on the learning strategies used within the Learn2Learn program.

shared journey

We offer an additional small group coaching or a peer-support framework and training should you decide to incorporate a peer-support component to your roll-out of the program.

Our Story

What’s our Purpose?

Attrition is a problem. It’s a problem for our Universities, our other learning institutions, and above all, it’s a problem for the students themselves and their communities.

In a majority of instances, the students who are affected come from backgrounds that are classified as disadvantaged. Whether that is geographic, demographic or social – bridging this gap has the potential to make a significant impact on these individuals – their futures and their communities.

Although attrition is a complex, multi-faceted problem, we believe that by giving students the right tools, mindset and resilience we can not only improve their learning outcomes but also have a positive flow on to their post studies working lives.

Imagine a world where all students start their higher education studies understanding HOW and WHAT to learn, feeling CONFIDENT and MOTIVATED, ENGAGED and RESILIENT when it comes to setbacks in their studies and in their personal lives. Imagine how they can then empower and build their communities….

Does that inspire you to make a difference?

It inspires us!
